Altoids Tin Garden

Gomi Style has come up with a way to recycle old Altoids tins by creating a tiny garden in them. You can grow some small succulent plants in the tins. Use potting soil and some stones to keep the soil moist misting them a few times a day. This would look really cute on a shelf or coffee table. Check out Gomi Style’s blog and take a look at the different Altoids tin gardens you can make.

Beach Garden in a Pot

How cute is this Beach Garden in a Pot?! I just came across the website Sunset today and they have a tutorial on how to create this beautiful Beach Garden. It’s kinda like a zen garden. If you just can’t get enough of the beach you can bring it home. Next time you go to the beach collect some shells, driftwood and anything that you can think of that would look good in your Beach Garden.

Window Films are a great way to give some privacy and add some decor to a room. All you need to make window films are some contact paper, paint pen, scissors or an exact-o knife, tape and a ruler. With your paint pen you can paint any kind of pattern or design on your contact paper, get creative! Check out Design Sponge for the full tutorial.

Futon Pillows

Have an old futon from college days? Well don’t get rid of the cushion when you upgrade to a more comfortable living room set, up-cycle it into a floor cushion. I found this idea over at Apartment Therapy Boston. Apartment renters Sarah and Megan had the idea to cut up the cushion from their futon and use it as stuffing for extra seating. Find you favorite sturdy fabric from a craft store and sew your very own custom floor pillow.
