Bird Mobile Tutorial

Seems like a lot of people I know are having babies this year, baby decorations have definitely been on the brain lately. Design Sponge has a great tutorial on how to make this unique bird mobile for your baby’s crib. I think this would even look neat to put on a porch outside if you aren’t an expecting mother.

Baby Blanket Tutorial

Seems like everyone is having babies this year! Ever since my sister and one of my friends had a baby, I feel like I know a lot more about all the popular toys and accessories that are out now for new mommies and babies. Have you ever heard of “Taggies”? Well this blanket is just like those Taggie blankets. This blanket is perfect for your little one to grab on to, you can customize the fabric pattern to fit your style and choose a nice soft fabric for the bottom. If you are crafty this would make for a nice personalized baby shower gift that your friend or relative will love! I found this tutorial on Craftblog.com.au. I really need to get a sewing machine to make things like this!

Memory Quilts

Do you have baby clothes lying around that your son or daughter has grown out of and don’t want to give them up? Or do you have old band t-shirts you don’t wear anymore? Well, if you don’t want to get rid of these good memories why not make a quilt out of them to always remember? I came across this site called Ticche and bea where you can purchase a memory quilt kit or baby clothes quilt kit. Each kit comes with pre-cut fabric squares, batting, a quilt back, safety pins, straight pins, a cutting template, and very specific directions on how to create your quilt. If you get stuck and need some help you can even mail them the quilt you started to have them finish it for you. Or if you aren’t very savvy at sewing you can send away your shirts pre-cut and have them create it for you.

This is such a great idea for a gift or preserving a memory. My sister just had a baby recently and received tons of baby clothes I’m sure within a year or so the baby will grow out of those infant clothes all they’ll just be lying around. This would be a great gift to create and give to a child when they get a little older. If she doesn’t plan on having anymore kids and won’t be able to use the clothes anymore. The pricing is pretty inexpensive and well worth it. I wish I had kept my old band t-shirts to make one of these quilts.

Jungle Animal Amigurumi

Here are some of the Amigurumi animals I’ve made so far. They will be for my sister’s new baby! It’s always good to have a reason for making things It gives you motivation to make sure you finish. The elephant was the first one I crocheted and used a pattern. By the time I finished I had some confidence in my stitches, so I mixed and matched from other patterns to make the lion and the giraffe, as well as coming up with my own way of creating the ears, cheeks, etc… Also, I watched amigurumi tutorials on Youtube that was a big help. Can’t wait to make more!
