Recycle Tin Cans into Vases

Looking for a way to recycle your tin cans? Or looking for a diy vase? Well, Design Sponge has a tutorial on how to create this beautiful birch bark tin can vase. I love how birch looks. If you don’t have a birch tree around you can do a search for birch bark sheets and you will find places that sell it. Design Sponge has some other great ideas for recycling tin cans into vases.

Wino Corkboard

Upcycle wine corks into a corkboard used to hold notes and keys. I found this project on Green Upgrager. All you need are a bunch of wine bottle corks, a frame and some hooks if you’d like to use it to hold your keys. I’m going to start saving my wine corks from now on to make this project.

Handspun Newspaper Yarn

If you save your newspaper to recycle why not create something you can re-use out of it yourself? GreenUPGRADER has a tutorial on how you can actually handspin newspaper into yarn. Newspaper can be durable enough to construct a rug out of it. I’m sure this project would take a lot of patience, but the tools used to get it done are very minimal. Whatever you end up making from it would make for a nice conversation piece.

Upcycle: Pet Bottle Purse

Make a Pet Bottle Purse and save the planet at the same time, or at least feel good about yourself. Green Upgrader has posted another great way to turn something you would normally throw out into something useful.

Now I know a pet bottle purse probably sounds funny, but this could come in handy if you want to store your coupons, loose change you don’t have to carry it around as a purse. I could see this being a fun project for a kid. All you need to do is cut the bottom off of two bottles and attach a zipper.

Green Upgrader has posted a bunch of facts on plastic bottles and what really happens to them. I usually never buy bottled water, I never understood it…so wasteful!

Yellow Pages Card Holder

I absolutely hate when I receive the yellow pages at my door step! I never ever look at the yellow pages, that’s what I have the internet for. I usually get two really thick books a year, it’s such a waste of trees and money! They are so heavy and I hate throwing them out. Well, I found this really cool way to recycle your yellow pages into something that could be usable. Make it a card holder, holiday cards, birthday card, or business cards. Doug Gunzelmann at Green Upgrader has come up with a real creative way to recycle these nuisances that was inspired by the Industrial Designer Afroditi Krassa.
